(Toronto, Ont.) – Canada Basketball made history at the 2014 NBA Draft with the No. 1 overall draft pick in consecutive years and four total players selected in the first and second rounds NBA Draft.

“It’s such a tremendous night for Canadian Basketball.  For Andrew, Nik and Tyler to go in the Top 18 in such an incredibly deep draft makes such a compelling case for the development of the Canadian game,” said Wayne Parrish, President and CEO of Canada Basketball.

“They and Dwight and the guys that weren’t drafted deserve so much credit, as do their parents and the hardworking coaches who have nurtured them for many years.”

Three players were selected in the first round, including two in the lottery. One player was selected in the second round.

• Andrew Wiggins was selected No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
• Nik Stauskas was selected No. 8 by the Sacramento Kings.
• Tyler Ennis was drafted No. 18 by the Phoenix Suns.
• Dwight Powell was selected No. 45 by the Charlotte Hornets.

Other Canadian draft eligible players will now have the opportunity to sign with NBA teams as free agents to continue their careers at the next level.

Notable numbers:

• Canada becomes the first country, other than the USA, to have back-to-back No. 1 draft picks.
• With the record-breaking first round selections, Canada now has 14 first-round picks.
• The first round picks confirm Canada will have at least 12 players on NBA rosters next season, making them the second-most represented country in the league behind the United States. Canada has overtaken France, who previously held the honour with nine players on NBA rosters.
• Three first round picks are the most from a single country since Russia had three players drafted in the first round in 2004. However, none of the Russian players went in the lottery.
