Quarterfinal 1: No. 2 Marauders advance to semifinal with win over Stingers

TORONTO (U SPORTS) - The No. 2 McMaster Marauders defeated the No. 7 Concordia Stingers 86-68 during the U SPORTS Women’s Basketball quarterfinal on Thursday afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

McMaster’s Sarah Gates put up a career high of 32 points to help defeat the Stingers.

Quarterfinal 2: No. 3 Huskies outmatch No. 6 Acadia

TORONTO (U SPORTS) - The No. 3 Saskatchewan Huskies outscored the No. 6 Acadia Axewomen 77-69 in the second quarterfinal of the day to advance to the national semifinal.

“We wanted to give Saskatchewan all they could handle,” said Acadia head coach, Len Harvey. “I feel pretty good about that, I think we did, for sure.”

TORONTO (U SPORTS) - The No. 1 Laval Rouge et Or dominated their way to a 73-51 victory over the Ryerson Rams in the third U SPORTS quarterfinal on Thursday evening at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Leading the charge for Laval was U SPORTS Player of the Year Sarah-Jane Marois (Quebec City, Que.) who scored a game-high 17 points in the victory, while Ryerson’s Hayley Robertson (Toronto, Ont.) led the Rams with 15 points in 25 minutes.
