Women's National Team is Making History

One game is all that separates from Team Canada from its first trip to the Olympic women's basketball semi-finals.

Milestones their forerunners spent four decades establishing during five Summer Games appearances (1976, 1984, 1996, 2000, and 2012) have been obliterated in just a matter of days by the proud members of Canada's 2016 Olympic women's basketball team.

As we count down the hours to Tuesday's monumental game, here's a look at some of the new benchmarks Team Canada has already set in Rio:

  • Most wins - 3
  • Most consecutive wins - 3
  • Highest placing in group stage - 3rd (also 3rd in 1984)
  • Most points in group stage - 340
  • Most points in a game - 90 (vs. China)
  • Most points in a half - 53 (2nd half vs. China)
  • Most points in a quarter- 30 (4th quarter vs. China)
  • Most rebounds in a game - 44 (vs. China)
  • Most assists in a game - 31 (vs. China)
  • Most three-pointers in a game - 11 (vs. China)
  • Biggest margin of victory - 22 (vs. China)
  • Biggest comeback when trailing at halftime - down 18 (vs. Serbia)
  • Biggest comeback when trailing after 3rd quarters - down 12 (vs. Serbia)
  • First time advancing to quarter finals at consecutive Olympic Games
  • First time winning opening game (vs. China)
