Canada Claims 7th Spot On FIBA Combined World Rankings
(November 17, 2015) - Canada is now 7th in the FIBA Combined World Rankings! After a record-breaking international competitive season, Canada moved up two spots on the list.
Take look back at our 2015 competitive season...
Women's High Performance
- 4-2 in European exhibition tour
- Undefeated at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, won the gold medal
- Hosted the 2015 FIBA Americas Championships for Women, went undefeated at the tournament and qualified for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics
- Undefeated in group play at FISU Games 2015, won the silver medal
- Best finish for Canada at the FISU games
- Finished 8th in the world at the FIBA U19 Women's World Championships
- Will compete in the 2016 FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championships
- Won Canada's first-ever gold medal in age-group competition
- Will compete in 2016 FIBA U17 Women's Worlds Championships
Men's High Performance
- 4-1 at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, winning a silver medal
- Best ever finish for men's team in Pan Am history
- Tournament record of 8-2 and won Bronze at the 2015 FIBA Americas Men's Championships
- Qualified for World tournament in summer 2016 with chance to qualify for Rio 2016 Summer Olympics
- Finished 8th at the FISU Games
- Finished 5th in the world at the FIBA U19 Men's World Championships
- Best finish for Canada at the U19 event
- Will compete in the 2016 FIBA U18 Americas Championships
- Finished 2nd at FIBA U16 Men's Americas Championships
- Qualified for the FIBA U17 Men's World Championships
