Mar 5, 2013

CCAA – Eight of Canada’s best female basketball teams have earned a ticket to Truro, N.S.

All will compete for gold at the 2013 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship, hosted March 13-16 at Dalhousie - Agricultural Campus in Truro, N.S.

The VIU Mariners defeated the Capilano Blues in B.C to qualify for their first CCAA women's basketball national championship since 1999.

Alberta's Olds Broncos may be the ultimate Cinderella story; their first CCAA basketball season has resulted in a trip to nationals!

The Algonquin Thunder and Fanshawe Falcons both earned their tickets to Truro when they qualified for the OCAA gold medal game. It ended solidly in Algonquin's favour, earning them a third consecutive provincial championship.

Quebec's finalists kept each other on a tight leash in the gold-medal game, resulting in a 50-45 final score in favour of the Nomades de Montmorency over the Dawson Blues.

The St Thomas Tommies earned their third consecutive ACAA title with a firm win over the MSVU Mystics; both will attend the CCAA national championship in lieu of a host team.
