TORONTO - Canada Basketball will conduct open tryouts for the 2012 Cadet and Junior Men’s National Team on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Ryerson University from 5:00pm-7:00pm (Cadet) and 7:30-9:30pm (Junior). The tryouts are open to Canadian male athletes born January 1, 1994 or later who have a valid Canadian passport. Players will be assessed by national team coaches for potential inclusion in the invitational tryouts for the cadet and junior teams, which run from May 18-21 at Ryerson.

Athletes born January 1, 1994 or later are eligible to compete for the Junior Men’s National Team who will participate in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Brazil from June 16-20, 2012.  Athletes born January 1, 1995 or later are eligible to compete for the Cadet Men’s National Team who will participate in the FIBA U17 World Championship in Lithuania from June 29 – July 8, 2012.

Athletes interested in participating in the open tryout can pre-register by printing, completing and signing the registration and insurance forms, which can be found on www.basketball.ca (click here for forms).  Completed and signed forms should be emailed to registration@basketball.ca  by Friday, May 11.

Registration and sign-in can also be completed at Ryerson University during the times indicated in the table below.  Registration and insurance forms will also be available on-site.

Please Note:     Parent/guardian signatures are required for all forms in order for athletes to participate.

Please Note:     All athletes are responsible for their own gear and expenses to attend and participate in the open tryouts. There will be an athletic therapist on-site, however, all athletes are responsible for their own wraps and taping.
