Cis Top 10 Basketball Rankings

/

Nov 28, 2012

Not much change in this week's men's and women's basketball rankings. Windsor and Carelton hold the top spot for a consecutive weeks.

Basketball players Justine Colley from Saint Mary’s University and Jimmy Dorsey from Cape Breton University are the CIS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 25, 2012.

Colley, a fourth-year commerce student from East Preston, N.S., averaged 25 points per game last weekend as the nationally fourth-ranked Huskies improved to 6-0 in conference play thanks to road wins over Cape Breton, 63-50, and StFX, 76-56. On Friday night against the Capers, the two-time CIS scoring champion tallied an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double and also added four steals and a pair of assists. She was even more spectacular in Saturday’s victory over the X-Women as she exploded for 32 points while adding five boards, five steals and four assists. Saint Mary’s hosts Dalhousie (4-1) on Wednesday evening for its final regular season match of the fall semester.

McGill hockey player Katia Clément-Heydra, York volleyball player Melissa Humana-Paredes and Manitoba volleyball player Taylor Pischke were also nominated for the women’s award.

Dorsey, a fifth-year community studies student from Baltimore, Maryland, averaged 25.5 points per contest to lead the No. 5-ranked and undefeated Capers (5-0) to home wins over Saint Mary’s, 90-86, and Dalhousie, 86-68. The 6-foot-2 guard kicked off the weekend on Friday with a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double against the Huskies, and resumed his domination Saturday versus the Tigers with 27 points, six assists, four steals and two boards. Led by the reigning AUS MVP, Cape Breton ends the fall portion of the schedule with a pair of duels at UNB (3-3), Friday and Saturday.
