With day 2 in the books, Canada had a great day with both teams combing for a 5-1 record at the FIBA U18 3x3 World Championship in Spain.

The men were not only able to qualify for the playoffs, but they earned a bye into the quarter-finals on Sunday. The men’s team started Saturday with a match with China. Canada was able to carry over momentum from yesterday’s results with a 20-14 victory. Next was New Zealand, Canada was able to get by narrowly with a 16-15 win. In the final game of their group schedule, and a chance to earn a bye into the quarters, Canada breezed by Poland, 17-10.

Canada finished the group stage with a perfect 7-0 record. Canada was one of three teams to stay undefeated through group stage (Russia and Serbia). Canada will play tomorrow 9 a.m. EDT against the winner of the Romania (5-2) and Switzerland (5-2) game.

The women began the day with a game with Tunisia, but the team withdrew, so Canada was credited with a 21-0 victory. Next Canada was against the mighty Australians. Canada was unable to knock off the Aussies, as the team lost 10-5.

The U18 women didn’t qualify for the quarter-finals. The team finished with an overall record of 2-3.
