Edmonton Team Takes On The World At Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final

Miami, FL – Canada will have be represented in Miami, Florida when the team from Edmonton comprised of Jordan Baker, Dom Coward, Jarred Ogungbomi and Joel Friesen play in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final taking place September 21st – 23rd.

The team from Edmonton began their journey by winning the 3x3 Canada Quest west region qualifier in June. Next was New York City where the three teams representing Canada, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal competed for a spot in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final. All three Canadian teams made it to the quarters, but Edmonton was the only team to advance to the semi-final and secure a spot in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final in Miami. Edmonton lost to the eventual champions, Denver at the New York City tournament.

For the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final, Edmonton has been placed in Pool A along with, Vilnius (Lithuania), Denver (USA), Moscow (Russia), Vladivostok (Russia) and Ljubljana (Slovakia). In order to qualify to the quarter-finals, Canada will need to finish in the top four of their group. The tournament involves twelve participating teams divided into two groups of six teams.

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final will be available to watch online beginning Sunday, September 23 at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) and with the Final taking place at 8:20 p.m. (EDT). For the link to watch, click here.

All results will be posted on tournament website immediately after each game and the Edmonton team results will be posted on twitter as it happens.

As well as the tournament, spectators and fans will be able to enjoy the ever-popular Samsung Shoot-Out and Nike Dunk Contest as well as music, DJs and a variety of entertainment programmes.

Exciting, urban and innovative, 3x3 basketball is inspired by several forms of street ball played worldwide. Endorsed by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a standard half-court. It was played successfully for the first time in international competition at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore.
