Oct 15, 2012

After a very busy summer with the Junior Men’s National Team and CIA Bounce, Xavier Rathan-Mayes made his decision regarding what college he’ll attend next year.

The 24th ranked prospect (ESPN) in the 2013 class narrowed his list of schools to three; Connecticut, Illinois and Florida State about a month ago.

After a month, on Saturday, Xavier made his decision and did so by putting on a red Florida State Seminole polo shirt and hat on at a private party with friends, family and teammates. Florida State had an inside edge for Xavier’s service, since his father played at Florida State.

Xavier is entering his senior high school basketball season at the highly regarded, Huntington Prep in West Virginia, that features four additional Canadians on the roster including; Monteque Gill-Caeser,  Nevell Provo, DiShawn Thompson and Andrew Wiggins.

Xavier was a key player on the bronze medal, Junior Men’s National Team who competed in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Brazil in June.  Xavier was one of the leaders on the team by being the second leading scorer on the team (7th in the tournament) with 14.8 points per game. He also proved to be one of the most consistent scorers for Canada as he scored in double-digits in each game of the tournament.
