Feb 8, 2013

A few of the best performances this week in the NCAA came from Canadians.

Nayo Raincock-Ekwunwe (Toronto, ON) – Simon Fraser, Sr.

With 26 points (on 75 per cent shooting) and 16 rebounds, Nayo led her Simon Fraser team to a 71-55 win over Alaska Fairbanks.

Sim Bhullar (Toronto, ON) – New Mexico State, Fr.

New Mexico State won its ninth game in a row last Saturday led by their 7'5" centre from Toronto. Bhullar scored 17 points, grabbed 18 rebounds including seven on the offensive end, and blocked five shots in the 75-62 victory over UTSA.

Natalie Achonwa (Guelph, ON) – Notre Dame, Jr.

Nat's proving to be a regular on the Lines of the Week list as her Fighting Irish continue to roll through the competition. In a 59-52 win over Villanova she finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Anthony Bennett (Brampton, ON) – UNLV, Fr.

In a 77-72 loss to Boise State, Bennett carried his team with 25 points, six rebounds, and a pair of steals and assists. The fantastic freshman continues to dominate his competition.

Kayla Alexander (Milton, ON) – Syracuse, Sr.

On Tuesday, the Syracuse senior boosted her Orange team to a 72-48 win over Cincinnati with 23 points on 67 per cent shooting, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Dwight Powell (Toronto, ON) – Stanford, Jr.

An impressive double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds couldn't propel Stanford over the highly-ranked Arizona Wildcats, but Powell's game kept them close. The 6-10 forward added four assists and two blocks.
