Lines of the Week: Canadians in the NCAA

/

Feb 15, 2013

Some outstanding performances in the NCAA this week by Canadians.

Michelle Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) – Utah, Jr.

In a 66-40 win over Arizona State, Plouffe finished with a big 14 point, 14 rebound double-double to go with two blocks, two assists and a steal.

Melvin Ejim (Toronto, ON) – Iowa State, Jr.

Ejim had 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a double-overtime loss to Texas that was much hyped for fellow-Canadian Myck Kabongo's return. Congratulations are also in order as Ejim was recognized as a member of the Academic All-Big 12 team on Thursday.

Natalie Achonwa (Guelph, ON) – Notre Dame, Jr.

Another stellar game from Nat who finished with 22 points on 73% shooting, and 12 rebounds in a 93-64 win over Louisville. People are really starting to notice "Ace" as a dominant forward.

Brady Heslip (Burlington, ON) – Baylor, Jr.

With Heslip's six three pointers, the Bears rolled to an 80-60 win over West Virginia on Wednesday. Brady finished with 20 points on 70% shooting, two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and no turnovers.

Katherine Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) – Marquette, Jr.

With 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists, Katherine was instrumental in a close 60-56 Marquette win over Villanova. The Plouffes keep showing Canadians we've got game.

Dwight Powell (Toronto, ON) – Stanford, Jr.

Powell makes the NCAA Lines of the Week for two performances so good, we can't decide which was better. On Saturday the junior forward had 22 points and 10 rebounds, then on Thursday Powell finished with 17 points, 17 rebounds. Dominant either way.
