Ncaa, Oua And Canadian Centre For Ethics In Sport To Present At Amm

Ontario Basketball (OBA) announced Tuesday the lineup of presenters at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the Members, including dignitaries from the NCAA, Ontario University Athletics (OUA), and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES).  

"We are proud to provide a very exciting roster of presenters at this year's AMM," said Ken Urbach, president, Ontario Basketball. "The topics for discussion at this annual event represent important areas of focus for many of our constituents. We look forward to learning more and thank the presenters for their time and dedication to OBA."

Ken Huber, assistant director of enforcement and Paul Rorving from the NCAA Eligibility Center for the NCAA will provide updated information on a variety of topics including recruitment, academic requirements, policy enforcement, education and more.  

Samantha Magalas, sport development officer for Ontario University Athletics will present the scholarship landscape for basketball players wishing to pursue a post-secondary career in Ontario.  

Kyle Johnston, programming coordinator for the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport will unveil the new Club Excellence strategy to be launched within Ontario Basketball, aimed at providing invaluable resources and added value to member clubs in the areas of risk management, promotion, fiscal accountability, marketing, recruitment, revenue generation and more.  

The presentations will take place on Saturday, November 3 at the Holiday Inn Toronto Yorkdale at approximately 1:30pm, immediately following the second annual Ontario Basketball Awards Gala. All OBA active members are invited to attend the presentations and Annual Meeting of the Members. Ontario Basketball Hall of Fame (York Hall) Tickets, priced at $100/each or $750/table, remain on sale, however limited space is available. The Ontario Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2012 includes: Stanley Crowley (Official), Dave Grace (Builder), Stanley "Red" Nantais (Coach) and Sandy Pothier (Coach). A portion from each ticket will go towards the Sandy Pothier Memorial Scholarship.

1:30pm - Stakeholder Presentations and Annual Meeting of the Members (deHavilland Hall) Official annual governance of the association, including the formation of the OBA board of directors, presentation of the annual report and information sessions from basketball stakeholders.
