FIBA – The groups were drawn for the FIBA Americas U16 Championship, to be played from June 11-15, 2013 in Maldonado, Uruguay.
The draw was held at the offices of FIBA Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was conducted by its Sports Director, Mr. Anibal Garcia.
The groups were set as follows:
Group A: Argentina, Bahamas, Mexico and USA
Group B: Canada, Chile, Puerto Rico and Uruguay
Uruguay, represented by Francisco Castellanos, coordinator of national teams for Uruguayan Basketball Federation, chose to play against Canada in their last game of the first round.

The FIBA Americas Championship held its last edition in Cancun, Mexico in 2011. USA is the defending champion of the event, with the now renowned High School prospect, Jabari Parker, named MVP of the championship.
