Canada Basketball Talent Identification Weekend
Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS)

WHAT & WHY:
Canada Basketball, in partnership with Ontario Basketball, Humber College and Sport Testing Inc., will be hosting a series of talent identification sessions to
identify athletes.  This year’s talent identification sessions will be held over two days; Saturday December 22nd and Sunday December 23rd.  These sessions are an opportunity for Canada and Ontario Basketball to evaluate athletes who demonstrate the potential to participate in the elite provincial programs, as well as the men’s and women’s youth national team program in the future.  These identification sessions are a component of Canada Basketball’s Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS).  

WHERE:
Humber College, North Campus Main Gymnasium (205 Humber College Blvd,  Toronto, ON, M9W 5L7)

WHEN & WHO:
Both days are open to any athletes with Canadian citizenship who meet the age requirements.  Please note that enrollment is limited and will be capped for each age-group, so athletes are encouraged to register immediately to secure their participation.

COST:
The Talent ID weekend will cost $45 (Combine testing; $25, Talent ID on court evaluation: $20)
Cash will be the only payment and will be accepted on site, on December 22nd and 23rd.

DATES:
Saturday December 22nd, 2012
- will feature sport-specific athlete testing, provided by Sport Testing Inc, to provide Canada Basketball and Ontario Basketball with key metrics in the talent identification process. Athletes can know where they stand in leg power, speed, agility and strength; all key attributes correlating to game performance. Upon completion of testing, athletes will receive an interactive report card that can be used to compare results, identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as track progression.

Basketball on-court skill development and evaluation, led by Canada Basketball identified coaches for athletes born in 1997 and 1998 along with 2001.  

Combine/On-court Basketball ID Schedule - December 22nd 2012

Sunday December 23rd, 2012 - will include on-court skill development and competitive components led by Canada Basketball identified coaches.  

HOW TO REGISTER:
Athletes will need to fill out the attached registration and insurance form for the talent identifications sessions and combine testing (linked below).


Registration Form & Insurance Waiver

IMPORTANT:  To register for both sessions, please complete both the registration form and waiver in full (found HERE), then sign, scan and email the completed forms to registration@basketball.ca or fax 416 614 9570. Insurance waiver forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and are required for the sessions.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION:  On receipt of your fully completed registration form and signed insurance waiver, your participation in the session will be confirmed via email.  Please note that registration is limited to 60 athletes per session.
