Team Saskatoon is set to face the finest 3x3 squads from across the globe in the 2013 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final. After advancing through Canada Basketball’s 3x3 Canada Quest tournament, the team finished in second place at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour San Juan Masters to earn a berth to the championship in Turkey’s largest city.

Team Saskatoon is comprised of four members of the 2010 University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Troy Gottselig, Michael Lieffers, Michael Linklater and Trevor Nerdahl will compete in Pool C with a pair of Slovenian squads in Teams Kranj and Brezovica, as well as, a familiar foe in Team New York Staten of the United States. The Americans advanced to the World Tour Final by winning the San Juan Masters.

Executive director of Canada Basketball, Michele O’Keefe, spoke to the skill of these four athletes ahead of the finale of the World Tour. "Team Saskatoon is made up of four veteran basketball players who have proven they can compete at the international level. 3x3 gives a platform for all basketball players to compete against the world. No doubt Team Saskatoon will represent Canada proudly."

The field of competition features squads from Argentina, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, the United States and Venezuela – brought together through the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters qualifying tournaments. The victor of the World Tour Final will earn a trip to the inaugural FIBA 3x3 All-Stars in Doha, Qatar.
