U17 Men Beat Australia 96-58 in the Classification 5-8

(Zaragoza, Spain) The U17 Canadian men have clearly moved on after yesterday's disappointing loss in the quarter finals. Matched up today against Australia a team they've previously beat in the first round the men played a confident game winning 96-58.

Starting for Canada were Rowan Barrett JR, Danilo Djuricic, Andrew Nembhard, Ignas Brazdeikis and Simisola Shittu. Click here for full team roster.

FIBA most valuable player of the game was given to Rowan Barrett he scored an impressive 23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals and had an efficiency of +20. Danilo Djuricic scored 17 points of his own, and Ignas Brazdeikis had 18 points as well, these three playing making up for over1/2 of the final score.

In the first quarter Canada pulled away by creating more opportunities and capitalizing off them. They shot 55% 12/22, while Australia struggled to put it in the hoop. Aggressive defense allowed Canada to limit scoring opportunities for the opposition who only shot 23%.

Canada kept a strong lead the entire game, this was due to strong defensive play. The men out rebounded, caused more turnovers and significantly had more steals. They caused 22 turnovers for Australia while only creating 16 of their own. As well stole the ball 12 times which was double Australia who only had 6.

The U17 Canadians played hard but kept composure throughout the 40 minutes never getting dirty. They only fouled Australia 2 more times. Playing smart and aggressive.

Canada pushed the ball up the court with great efficiency this game, scoring 16 points from fast breaks, 41 in the paint and capitalizing off turnovers scoring 23 points!
