Toronto, ON - The Women's National Team's semi-final game ended in a 91-63 win over Brazil at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Ontario.

"It feels incredible to win tonight," said 19-year old guard, Kia Nurse. "We played great on all cylinders and everyone on the team contributed to the victory." Canada head coach, Lisa Thomaidis claimed, "It feels fantastic to play in the Gold medal game at home, in Toronto. We really executed our game plan to perfection - our offense really fed off of our defense."

Lachine, Québec native, Nirra Fields finished the game with 15 points on 4-9 shooting to go along with 2 rebounds and a steal while Lizanne Murphy chipped in with 12 points. Brazil's Isabela Macedo finished with 16 points while shooting 63% from the field. For a full box score, click here.

Canada started the game off strongly by opening the quarter on an 11-2 run sparked by Miranda Ayim's 7-consecutive points. Tenacious team defense, aggressive rebounding and efficient offense gave Canada a 22-9 lead after the first quarter.

After starting the game well, Canada looked to continue their rapid pace. Michelle Plouffe had herself a solid second quarter as she scored 8 points and grabbed 3 rebounds off of the bench. Going into the half, Canada led 35-21 with Ayim leading the scoring charge with 9 points while Miah Marie Langlois showcased her playmaking skills by earning 5 assists.

Canada looked to pull away in the third quarter with rugged rebounding and consistent shooting. After out-rebounding Brazil all game, Canada led the rebound count 11-3 in the third quarter while shooting 69% from the field for a total of 33 points in the frame. Murphy and Fields hit multiple three-point shots throughout the quarter to give Canada a 68-39 lead after three.

The Women's National Team looked to maintain their large lead in the fourth quarter. After going back and forth with Brazil for most of the quarter, Nurse and Kim Gaucher sealed the victory for Canada as they sunk two threes to preserve Canada's 91-63 victory.

Team Canada will play the United States in the TORONTO 2015 Final tomorrow at the Mattamy Athletic Center in Toronto, Ontario at 8:45PM (EST). Canada finished with a silver medal in the 1999 Pan Am Games, so the team will have a chance to match or improve on their best-ever finish tomorrow evening.

Small Forward, Lizanne Murphy stated, "I have been dreaming about getting a Gold medal with Canada since I stepped on the court for Canada in 2007."
