Brock and Saskatchewan Square Off for U Sports Title

Women’s Semifinal 1: Brock defeats UPEI to reach U SPORTS final

OTTAWA (U SPORTS) – Samantha Keltos scored 23 points and added 17 rebounds as the Brock Badgers upended the UPEI Panthers 69-55 in their women’s semifinal game at the 2020 U SPORTS Final 8 Basketball Championships on Saturday at The Arena at TD Place.  

Melissa Tatti added 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Brock, while Jenna Mae Elsworth had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a losing cause for UPEI.

Brock shot 44.1 per cent from the field and 30.4 per cent from three, compared to UPEI’s 27.8 per cent shooting and 25.9 per cent from beyond the arc.

With the win, Brock advances to play the winner of Laval and Saskatchewan on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT in the women’s final, while UPEI will play the loser for bronze on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT.

Women’s Semifinal 2: Saskatchewan advances to national championship final

OTTAWA (U SPORTS) – Megan Ahlstrom, Libby Epoch and Kyla Shand all scored in double figures during the Saskatchewan Huskies’ decisive 76-57 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or on Saturday in their women’s semifinal game at the 2020 U SPORTS Final 8 Basketball Championships at The Arena at TD Place.

Megan Ahlstrom had 16 points and five rebounds for Saskatchewan, while Carrie-Ann Auger had 17 points, three rebounds and three assists in a losing cause for Laval.

The Huskies shot 37.9 per cent from the field and 50 per cent from three, compared to the Rouge et Or’s 26.1 per cent shooting and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

With the win, Saskatchewan advances to play Brock on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT in the women’s championship final, while Laval takes on UPEI in the women’s bronze medal game at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT.
