Future Stars Camp Welcomes Home Kim Smith

Utah Ute. Sacramento Monarch. Olympian. Member of Tarbes GB in France. Senior Women's National Team shooting guard Kim Smith has built-up quite a resume in her basketball career. This weekend at F.H. Collins Secondary School in Whitehorse, Kim will add another title to that list - coach...at least coach for the Future Stars Girls Basketball Camp.

In partnership with Basketball Yukon, the Mission, B.C. native will make a trip home to Canada to pass on some of her knowledge and skills to a group of 11 to 17 year-olds. This past summer, Kim played an integral role in Canada's return to the Olympic stage after a 12-year absence. With a strong showing, the team finished the tournament in eighth place - a result which would help elevate Canada's women's FIBA ranking to 9th in the world.

For basketball in Canada to continue to grow, the stars of today must help mold the stars of tomorrow. Who knows? The next Kim Smith could be on the court this weekend at F.H. Collins.
