National Championships Notes: Championship Matchups Finalized

ST John’s, NFL. (August 10, 2024)—The Canada Basketball 15U and 17U Men’s and Women’s National Championships completed their fifth day of play in Toronto and St John’s today. The tournament runs from August 5th to 10th, 2024.

Following the semifinals, Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia all qualified for the championship final with their respective age groups. Here are the final matchups for 17U & 15U Women and Men’s Teams:

17U Women

Ontario vs Quebec:

  • Ontario closed out a 63-57 victory over British Columbia to secure their spot against the defending champions in Quebec.
  • Quebec finds themselves in the final once again after a win over Alberta earlier today.

15U Women

Ontario vs Quebec

  • The Ontario 15U team left no questions with a 71-34 win over Alberta to make the final against Quebec.
  • Meanwhile, Quebec’s 15U team won a nail-biter in OT against British Columbia with the support of their 17U team in the building, which had a very engaged crowd.

17U Men

Ontario vs British Columbia

  • Both Ontario and British Columbia pulled out solid wins against Quebec and Alberta to secure their spots in the final. British Columbia is the only province in the final not named Ontario or Quebec.

15U Men

Ontario vs Quebec

  • Another OT semifinal thriller saw Quebec get past British Columbia 86-83 to set up a clash with Ontario.
  • Ontario is coming off a 76-70 win over Alberta to place them in the championship game.
