Toronto Star Journalist Starkman, Dies At Age 51

Canada Basketball is sad to hear the news that Randy Starkman has passed away after a short battle with pneumonia.
Randy took ill after he covered the Canadian Olympic swimming trials in Montreal last week. He was admitted to the hospital and spent several days in intensive care at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
He was 51.
Randy specialized in covering amateur sports for many years and was hired by the Toronto Star after the 1988 Summer Olympics is Seoul. In his career he had covered 12 Olympic Games and won the National Newspaper Award on two occasions.
